Things I Just Don't Understand....

Today's topic for discussion....

Why is it, that when I post a picture of the Baltimore skyline (seen below) to my Flickr page ( http://www.flickr.com/photos/skye_shelly/ ), I average 50 views a day?

Now, I realize that 50 views is nothing, especially compared to some of my other photos, which average 100's of views a day. But for a shot with no nudity whatsoever - in fact, there are no people in the pic - I think that 50 per day is pretty good!!

And then you see the picture next to it....

You'd think that this, being a bit naughty (but nowhere near as naughty I as typically get), would have thousands of views at this point. But would you believe that this photo gets LESS views?

Things I just don't understand.

Hey, don't forget to check out my other Flickr page. This one is for my modeling work.

And also, there's my YouTube channel with some foot fetish videos.

You know, Flirty, you are quite the mature, stunning and awesome woman I hope I meet in a partner one day.
I hope you call upon me to shoot you when in the NY/NJ area soon.
Warmest,
Tom

I believe the ratio of visits per image is relative. You have tons of fans and the more you show, the more you are viewed. I've noticed that with my photos on flickr...I also think that we tend to spoil our viewers which is why the numbers drop the further away we get from graphic stuff.
Lets face it, we are sexual and visual creatures :)

no idea why, but i tend to think that your flickr visitors (present company excluded) are fools. i'm totally for the second shot :)

There is something truly magical about Baltimore; its majestic decrepitude, that draws people to staring at its hideous beauty.

Hey - I recognize that skyline -- drive into the city most days. it's wonderfully twisted; off-kilter. it's a zany place. huh, maybe that's why you got so many views. i mean, it's tough to compete with a cultural icon like Baltimore.

happens to me when i post pics of models. i get sometimes less views and comments with a clothed shot than a skyline or a street shot. I am convinced there is some subtle flickr sensoring going on despite it not happening as far as i can tell. But the butt shot should get more. it is much more interesting than any skyline. :)

the skyeline is much more interesting than the skyline, that's a fact.

my guess is that an skyline is most interesting for both girls and boys that a butt without face...most people wont enlarge a butt without a face cause its just an amazing butt. If the shot shows the face they would want to see who owns the butt enlarging it...

I suspect (based on my stats) that some of that is from the difference factor.

Hard as it is to believe, people get used to seeing you. When you post a picture which has a different context it piques curiosity.

Then again, the skyline shot gains a lot from being seen large, and so is more likley to get people to click through.

I have a different friend on flickr who comments that her shots of her kids, nature, etc. are viewed at about 25 percent of the rate of shots of her half-clothed.

People are perverse.

I stopped trying to figure out why certain images get comments while others don't a long time ago. Aside from the basic strategy of T&A photos being popular, mostly its a gamble. Go figure!
